Horowitz and Potter buddy reading

Today, Horowitz and Potter had their first buddy reading session. We met our buddies and said hello and then Potter class children shared their library books with their Horowitz buddies. Some listened to the younger children read, whilst others read to them. Some even took it in turns. 

Shared time in Year 1

One afternoon a week, at the beginning of the school year, all the Year 1 children spend time together in Hargreaves. This is their time to initiate their own learning and take part in some Year 1 specific activities. During this time Year 2 also get a chance to cover areas they need to focus on. Here is a snapshot of our first shared afternoon, which we ended with our own Year 1 daily mile!

First week in Keystage 1

This week has been a mixture of getting to know each other, finding out new routines and timetables, beginning our learning and starting to discover more about Pirates!

In Hargreaves we coloured in our own name labels, to stick on our drawer, enjoyed a Charanga lesson, went to the library to select books for the classroom and had a lively PE lesson.

All three classes have started to learn about Pirates, the first one being the most famous - Blackbeard and all have have read and acted out a poem about a Wizard's pocket, to give the children inspiration as to what might be found in a Pirate's pocket!
