Have you seen the most recent displays? They are based on the author that each class is named after.

FAO of Year 1 and 2

Dear members of Hargreaves class, Butterworth class and Potter class,

Due to the inclement weather, I have not been out into my garden very much recently; today, however, the sun is shining and so I ventured out. 

Imagine my surprise when I found this large egg nestling in greenery!

I wonder who laid it and what will hatch from it? If you have any ideas please write a comment to this blog post and let me know. Don't forget to add your first name and year group to your prediction.

Ware a Hat Day

Last Friday, Mrs Phipps invited us all to "Ware a hat" to school again; you may recall we also did this last year. Once again, a huge variety of hats were on show including monsters, penguins, sparkly baseball caps, cows, stripes and spots. They were tall, small, long and of course interesting.

Thank you to everyone who took part, we raised £252 for the Amy Wallace Magpie Trust and featured in The Mercury this week. See the article online.

Science Investigations in KS1

As part of our Year One Time, we have looked at some science activities. 

Half the group have baked cakes and noticed how the ingredients can state, the other half have still to do this. 

We have all made shadow puppets and looked opaque, translucent and transparent materials.

We made bubble blowers and chose three questions to answer 1) Are bubbles always round? 2) Can you change the colour of bubbles? 3) Does the size of string on the bubble blower matter? - What do you think?

All three KS1 classes are undertaking a longer investigation including toy cars and ramps. We will publish some of the children's result in a few weeks time.
